New Accountability Model and School Ratings

The Commissioner of Education, Dr. Wayne Lewis, released Kentucky Public Schools’ new accountability model and associated school and district performance data.  Anderson County Schools Instructional Supervisor, Bobby Murphy, has created a slideshow with voice overlay explaining the new accountability model, schools ratings and scores.  The new accountability model is rigorous and has distributed KY school performance along a star rating system with the majority of schools receiving a 3-star or less rating.

  • 24.5% of elementary schools received a 1 or 2-star rating

  • 50.2% of elementary schools received a 3- star rating

  • 25.2% of elementary schools received a 4 or 5-star rating

  • 27.6% of middle schools received a 1 or 2-star rating

  • 49.8% of middle schools received a 3-star rating

  • 22.6% of middle schools received a 4 or 5-star rating

  • 32.6% of high schools received a 1 or 2-star rating

  • 52.6% of high schools received a 3-star rating

  • 14.9% of high schools received a 4 or 5-star rating

Though all Anderson County Schools received a 3-star rating, two of our schools were very close to receiving a 4-star rating, coming short by 0.6 points and 1.6 points respectively to their overall scores.

This accountability model has proven to be very rigorous.  We look forward to moving our schools to 4 and 5-star statuses.
