Weekly Update (March 18, 2021)

***There will be a project graduation meeting at the ACHS Cafeteria on March 18th at 6pm.  We are in great need of senior parents to help fundraise and plan for this event. So,  please come if you can.***

The following can be accessed through Miracle's google classroom shared with all seniors:

6th District League of  Sportsmen Scholarship due May 5, 2021.
There are two and a half weeks left to apply for 7 scholarships opportunities from KMHI. Five of these scholarships are geared to students going into a trade/trade school/trade program. Two are geared to students who live in a manufactured home. Deadline is Friday, April 2nd. For an application go to: https://www.kmhi.org/scholarship-opportunities/

Bluegrass Indo-American Civic Society Scholarship due date is April 30, 2021.

Local Scholarship Packets are available for pick up in the guidance office and on Ms. Miracle's Google Classroom.  I also sent a link to the google folder out yesterday to the ACHS Info distribution list.  For security purposes, the files can only be opened by Anderson County Schools email addresses.

The Anderson County Scholarship is available on the counselor's website for past graduates to apply.  Scroll to the bottom of the page to get to it.

The 2021 ACHS graduation ceremony is scheduled to be held at Alltech Arena on Friday, May 28th at 6:30 p.m.  Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, Alltech (as of Jan. 19, 2021) has a 15% seating capacity requirement (yellow zone).  We will continually keep everyone up to date as more information becomes available from the Kentucky Horse Park event planners.  In the event that restrictions are still in place closer to graduation, the district and ACHS will work to have an alternative venue for the ceremony.  We appreciate your patience as we move forward with planning preparation to honor our graduates.

Project grad is rolling out a new fundraiser with Boon Supply.  You shop and Project Grad gets 40% of the profits.  All purchases are made online through the below link and they will be shipped directly to you.  Thank you Meredith Lewis for getting this set up.  Please share and pass along to all your family and friends.

Spring 2021 Season
NACAC Virtual College Fairs
Dear Educator,

We hope you'll encourage your students to register for free at virtualcollegefairs.org.

More than 100,000 students and families signed up for NACAC virtual fairs this past fall. Students give them an enthusiastic "thumbs up" because it's so easy to drop in on live Zoom sessions offered by hundreds of colleges on a single day.

NACAC has begun promoting the fairs on Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram. But your recommendation has the greatest impact! A Counselor's Resource page is available with downloadable flyers, social media graphics, and more.

We can't thank you enough for letting your students know about this opportunity to explore their college dreams. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].

Best wishes,
NACAC Virtual College Fairs team

Spring 2021 Schedule
Students may attend as many fairs as they wish! Click to see a list of colleges that will share information about their programs, majors, financial aid, and more on each fair date. Additional colleges will be added throughout the spring.

Four of these events are smaller Focus Fairs and are especially for students with special interests or residing in specific regions: STEM (Mar. 7), Performing & Visual Arts (Mar. 16), Western US (Apr. 10), Southeastern US (Apr. 20).

Connect Virtually
COVID-19 has shut down many opportunities students previously had for visiting, learning about, and connecting with colleges. NACAC aims to bridge that gap through these special one-day events.

At each virtual fair, students attend college presentations, learn about their options, ask questions, and demonstrate interest... all without leaving home.

Please share this short how-to video with students and encourage them to sign up at virtualcollegefairs.orgwell before each fair date.
