As you know, the CDC and Public Health released new Covid-19 guidance for schools this week. I've been in consultation with our local Health Department, KDE and Cumberland Family Medical. The Education Commissioner also held a webex for superintendents yesterday that included consultation with Dr. Connie White. The new guidance has several changes and we have updated the Test to Stay document, put together a summary of changes document and provided the attachments below.
CDC and Public Health Guidance Changes - January 12, 2022
-Students and Staff who test positive for Covid 19 must quarantine for 5 days from the date of the onset of symptoms. They can return to school or work on day 6 if asymptomatic or if symptoms have been resolved. (No test needed to return on day 6)
-Students and Staff who are exposed at work or otherwise, can participate in Test to Stay program, testing with Health Kids Clinic on Days 1-5 and masking for Days 1-10. Anyone who can not wear a mask can not participate in Test to Stay program. Participation in athletics is allowable but Student Athletes must wear a mask for days 1-5 when participating in sports.
-Students and Staff who are exposed and quarantined for days 1-5 must provide a negative test to return to school or work on Day 6.
-Fully vaccinated for students ages 5-17 includes having first vaccination. Fully vaccinated for ages 18 and up includes having first vaccination and booster if eligible.
-Staff should remain 6 feet from students or may be quarantined if exposed if not masked and less than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes. Students should remain 3 feet apart but will quarantine if unmasked and closer than 3 feet for longer than 15 minutes.
